Managing Excel in the Insurance Sector

Wildnet provides a solution to help insurers solve the problem of managing and sharing Excel workbooks used to perform financial, actuarial and pricing processes.

Many Spreadsheets will create real risks to the organisation: migration to Office 2007, IP leakage, errors, undocumented codes, no best-practice enforcement and no efficient or cost effective management.

Wildnet has developed an approach, which industrialises the process for identification, risk assessment, remediation, migration and management of spreadsheet applications within a controls framework. Our 3-step approach, successfully tried and tested by demanding clients, involves analysis, planning and remediation.

Excel Review and Analysis Toolkit

Our Excel review toolkit allows for the rapid evaluation of large numbers of workbooks to identify critical issues around both migration to Office 2007 and risk. The toolkit gives us a unique capability for the accurate preparation, prioritisation and planning of any Excel remediation. When integrated within the controls framework, it also provides a mechanism for trend analysis of workbooks to ensure continuous improvement in quality.

Excel Remediation
Our Excel experts are able to review and remediate issues or expected issues in individual workbooks or groups of workbooks to recognised best practice standards and regulatory compliance (SOX, FSA directives). Additionally we can remediate workbooks for migration to Office 2007 or to deliver results via a web browser using SharePoint (Excel Services).

Controls Framework Solution
Our controls framework addresses all the regulatory and business requirements for managing Excel applications. The framework is developed in Microsoft SharePoint or can be deployed as a ‘client side’ Excel application.

Wildnet Excel for Insurance key benefits:

  1. Accelerated spreadsheet remediation
  2. Enhanced risk targeting and prioritisation
  3. Improved productivity for Excel users and owners
  4. Transparency on total cost of remediation
